Tighten Loose Skin and Define Your Jawline With Minimally Invasive Facial Contouring
Changes along the lower face can begin well before someone feels ready for facelift surgery. Early jowling, a softer jawline, loose skin beneath the chin, and localized pockets of fat can gradually blur facial contours even when the rest of the face still looks youthful.
At The Ocean Clinic Dermatology & Plastic Surgery in Newport Beach, California, double board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. David R. Reinstadler performs FaceTite for patients seeking meaningful facial contouring with a less invasive approach than traditional surgery.

What Is FaceTite?
FaceTite is a minimally invasive, non-surgical facial contouring treatment that uses radiofrequency-assisted lipolysis (RFAL) technology. A slender probe is introduced beneath the skin through small access points, while a corresponding external component delivers controlled radiofrequency energy through the targeted tissue.
This energy heats the treatment area in a controlled manner, promoting tissue contraction while addressing unwanted fat. The thermal effect also stimulates collagen remodeling, allowing skin quality and firmness to continue improving after the procedure.
FaceTite is most commonly used across broad areas of the lower face and neck, including the:
- Jawline
- Jowls
- Lower cheeks
- Area beneath the chin
- Neck
Benefits of FaceTite
Defined Lower-Face Contours
FaceTite can improve definition where early jowling and skin laxity have softened the transition between the face and neck. Treatment can create a cleaner-looking jawline without requiring the extensive incisions associated with facial surgery.
Skin and Fat Treatment in One Procedure
Facial aging does not always involve loose skin alone. When small areas of unwanted fat accompany laxity, FaceTite can address both concerns to improve the contour of the treated area.
Collagen Remodeling
The controlled thermal energy used during FaceTite encourages a collagen response within the tissue. Because this process continues after treatment, improvements can become gradually more apparent as the tissues remodel.
A Minimally Invasive Approach
FaceTite uses tiny access points rather than the longer incisions required for facelift surgery. It can be performed under local anesthesia and generally involves less downtime than a surgical facial rejuvenation procedure.
FaceTite vs. AccuTite
FaceTite and AccuTite use similar radiofrequency technology but are designed for different-sized treatment areas. FaceTite is generally better suited to broader regions such as the jawline, jowls, area beneath the chin, and neck, where more extensive skin contraction and contouring may be needed.
AccuTite uses a smaller handpiece for greater precision in compact or delicate areas, including around the eyes and brows. Dr. Reinstadler determines which device is appropriate based on the location, size, and characteristics of the treatment area, and the two technologies may sometimes be used together.
FaceTite vs. Facelift Surgery
FaceTite is typically appropriate for mild to moderate skin laxity, early jowling, and localized fullness. It can be performed under local anesthesia, requires smaller access points, and generally involves less recovery than facelift surgery. For patients beginning to experience these changes, FaceTite may provide enough improvement to postpone consideration of a facelift.
Facelift surgery is designed for more advanced facial aging and allows Dr. Reinstadler to reposition deeper tissues and remove excess skin that FaceTite cannot adequately correct. Although surgery requires greater downtime and slightly longer incisions, it can produce a more substantial and longer-lasting degree of correction for significant jowling and skin laxity.
Who Is a Good Candidate for FaceTite?
FaceTite may be appropriate for patients who:
- Have mild to moderate lower-face or neck laxity
- Want greater improvement than non-invasive skin treatments can provide
- Are not currently candidates for, or do not yet require, a facelift
- Have realistic expectations about what minimally invasive therapy can accomplish
The amount of loose skin is particularly important when determining candidacy. Patients with substantial skin redundancy may achieve a more predictable and comprehensive improvement with facelift or neck lift surgery rather than FaceTite.
FaceTite FAQs
Does FaceTite leave scars?
FaceTite does not require the longer incisions associated with facelift surgery. The device is introduced through very small access points, which are strategically positioned to minimize visible evidence of treatment after healing.
How long do FaceTite results last?
The fat reduction and tissue remodeling achieved with FaceTite can provide long-lasting contour improvement, but the procedure does not stop future aging. Skin quality, weight fluctuation, genetics, and normal age-related changes can all influence how the face evolves afterward.
Dr. Reinstadler’s Approach to FaceTite
Dr. Reinstadler evaluates skin laxity, fat distribution, tissue quality, jawline definition, and the extent of facial aging to determine whether FaceTite can provide a meaningful improvement. Treatment planning also considers how the jawline, jowls, submental area (under the chin), and neck relate to one another so that contouring addresses the face comprehensively rather than treating an isolated concern.
As a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon who also performs facelift surgery, Dr. Reinstadler can assess where each patient falls along the spectrum from minimally invasive treatment to surgical rejuvenation. This experience allows him to recommend FaceTite when tissue contraction and contouring are appropriate — and recognize when surgery is more likely to deliver the degree of correction a patient wants.
