Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) is a safe, FDA-approved method for treating a variety of skin conditions, such as sun damage, liver or age spots, light to moderate acne, and brown spots. People with fairer skin are more prone to these issues.
PDT works by activating a photosensitizing agent called Levulan. The agent is transmitted to your skin through therapeutic blue laser light. The process is simple, painless, and effective.
The targetted cells absorb Levulan and convert the agent into a chemical that increases their sensitivity to light. Targetted cells are destroyed under the blue light illumination.
PDT can also be used to treat precancerous cells of actinic keratosis. If you suffer from sun damage, rosacea, or hyperpigmentation, you must undergo this treatment.
